Chevrolet Silverado
If capability is what you need from your next vehicle, a pickup truck just might fit the bill. They reign supreme when it comes to towing and payload capacity, but that's just the beginning of everything a modern pickup can offer. Take a look at the Chevrolet Silverado to learn about one of the top examples of everything a pickup truck can do for you.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
Customizing your Silverado is easy, thanks to the available seven trim levels and their accompanying unique exterior features. The base-level Work Truck, or WT, trim features automatic high beams, 17-inch wheels, and a rear-bumper corner step. The Custom trim offers 20-inch alloy wheels and LED cargo bed lights. The LT level makes LED headlights standard too.
Upgrade to the RST trim, and the Silverado comes with LED taillights and fog lamps. With the LTZ trim, you get chrome bumpers and the option for a power sunroof. The High Country is better represented by its 20-inch wheels and off-roading all-terrain tires. The final trim is the ZR2 Silverado, which is even more adept at off-roading, thanks to its 33-inch tires and skid plate protection.
Engine (Power)
The Silverado is powered by one of four available engine options. The standard engine is a 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-four that offers 310 horsepower with 420 pound-feet of torque. If that's not enough, the 5.3-liter V-8 can offer 355 horsepower with 383 pound-feet of torque. The next engine is another V-8, albeit with a 6.2-liter displacement, and it produces 420 horsepower with 460 pound-feet of torque. Finally, the last engine is a diesel 3.0-liter inline-six that grants 277 horsepower with 460 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
The Silverado has plenty of impressive performance to show off, especially when it comes to capability. In fact, its maximum towing capacity is 13,300 pounds, which firmly puts it among the class's top contenders. Even when you don't go with the most powerful V-8 engine, though, the towing capacity on the smaller V-8 is a still-impressive 11,500 pounds. Meanwhile, the maximum payload capacity is 2,280 pounds, with even the base-model Silverado still offering a maximum 1,870-pound payload capacity.
Interior
Inside the Silverado, you'll find both a comfortable and utilitarian interior. One of the first features you'll probably notice is the 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. While that may seem large, the infotainment touchscreen is even larger, measuring 13.4 inches. Of course, this infotainment system can be paired with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. If you plan on having rear passengers, they'll be happy with the incredibly generous 43.4 inches of legroom.
Safety Features
Several safety features come standard with the new Silverado, so you can drive with confidence. These include blind spot monitoring, which makes changing lanes easier, and automatic emergency braking, which will apply the brakes for you in the event that an imminent collision is detected. The structure of the truck is quite impressive too, earning it the full five stars in crash tests performed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
